Georgia's Vineyard Register: A Testament to Collaboration and Quality

Vineyards in Georgia

Vineyard Register System in Georgia - Case Study

Our journey in Georgia began in 2014, partnering with the National Wine Agency and supported by GIZ's international expert, Ana Isabel Luz, to revolutionize the wine industry.

Through a collaborative effort involving local stakeholders and government bodies, we successfully developed and implemented a comprehensive vineyard register system.

By 2021, this robust system had registered over 30,000 farmers and encompassed more than 45,000 hectares of vineyards. This wealth of data serves as a powerful tool, ensuring the traceability and quality of Georgian wines while safeguarding their authenticity and reputation.

This initiative is a prime example of how collaboration can drive sustainable development and create lasting impact. It serves as a valuable resource for both wine producers and consumers, guaranteeing the continued excellence of Georgian wines.

Unlocking Growth: Collaborative Vineyard Cadaster Solutions for Armenia and Georgia

Fostering partnerships

In 2017, the Vine and Wine Foundation of Armenia, supported by GIZ, initiated a landmark project to create a comprehensive electronic system for registering farmers, vineyards, grapes, wine, and other grape-based alcoholic beverages. This ambitious initiative aimed to revolutionize data management and traceability in the Armenian wine industry.

Recognizing the value of collaboration and knowledge exchange, Ana Luz, an international expert, organized a business trip in 2022 for an Armenian delegation to visit Georgia. This visit provided a unique opportunity to learn from Georgia's successful implementation of a similar vineyard cadaster system and to exchange insights on adapting wine legislation to the digital age. This collaborative effort between Armenia and Georgia represents a shared commitment to digital transformation and modernization in the wine industry. By working together, both countries can leverage their strengths, overcome challenges, and unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation. The development of robust vineyard cadaster systems is a crucial step towards ensuring the quality, traceability, and sustainability of wine production in both countries.
